Thursday Thrash: Dawgs "Back in the High (#Camp)Life Again"

Thursday Thrash is a weekly segment in which we incorporate some of the greatest songs of all time (mostly metal, but not always) into a topically relevant post revolving around current issues at the University of Georgia. As a note, artistic liberties will be frequently used in this relation. Basically, the only premise/rule is that I can't put on some crappy Shania Twain song or some no-talent lightning catcher with autotune (see KESHA).

Considering that yesterday was the the semi-first day of camp, with players reporting and doing conditioning tests  and taking physicals, I guess you could say camp has begun. The players have moved into their "dorms" for the next two weeks and practices will begin tomorrow.

It's at least a little heartening to know that you'll actually get to hear some practice chatter and not pass skeleton or weight room rumor mongering. Putting it on the field just makes you feel that much closer to fall, despite the seventh level feel of the air.

So the buzz that has been fluttering around the last two days directly centers around a special UGA TE. Aron White is up to his usual antics and has started a bit of a fad with his "#camplife" tweets. (In case you don't know what that is I've Googled ARON'S TWITTER HERE). Basically he throws down a funny anecdote about fall camp and then throws in #camplife behind it. If you still don't follow, make sure and hit the link above.

It's pretty much taken hold and the whole team is doing it now. Coincidentally, he's taking away my Tweet O' the Day fodder, but I can't fault him for being excited about football again. I would've taken me at least a week or three after that abomination on New Year's Eve to get back there, but it looks like he's done it.

If you can't tell we're looking forward to it as well. Hopefully we'll get some info out of our "sources" on tomorrow's practice and give you some inside skinny there on Friday, if you can wait it out. With the positive atmosphere surrounding Athens at present, I think everyone's excited to get things churning down there.

In light of being back in the "high life" of fall camp again, it would be hard not to pick such an obvious and appropriate song for today's Thrash. This certainly isn't heavy, but as prefaced above, we can pretty much do whatever we want in this segment. With that, I won't hesitate when I say that you can't deny good music, whether it is performed with epic guitar solos or a veritable coven of keyboards. Today's fits in the latter and without further ado, I present one of Steven Winwood's best...

Back in the High Life Again

Happy Thrashing!

(Oh, BTW, if anyone has ever been to a Winwood concert before, could you please tell me how many Hammond products were on stage?)
