NEW 2012 Hoops Recruit in the Mix

It appears Mark Fox is finally using some of his "west coast connections" in an attempt to supplement the 2012 class. analyst, Eric Bossi, has confirmed that Las Vegas small forward, Winston Shepard, has narrowed his final list down to six teams:

For a group of guys who like to keep up with basketball recruiting, this information is a bit surprising to us. We have heard VERY little about this guy's interest in UGA (I have speculated that Shepard being from Las Vegas could keep East Coast recruiting gurus out of the loop). Anyway, based on his final list, I would put UGA after Okie State on the "program prestige" level. I KNOW San Diego State was lights out last season, but that will simply not last.

As for Shepard's attributes, he stands 6-8 and has been described as "Jalen Rose-esque" (granted this comparison was from San Diego State's Rivals site...and former Michgian head man, Steve Fisher, is their coach). It should also be noted that he had offers from Texas and Memphis, and was being recruited by Kentucky as well. So...he is certainly not chopped liver.

Here is a highlight/interview reel of Shepard in action:

Getting a guys like this would make a pretty big statement by Fox and Co. We'll keep you updated when we hear anything further.
