Nasty Rumor Alert - Possible Eligibility Issues for Dawgs

The message boards, twitter, Facebook, and perhaps even various porn sites are starting to buzz about the possibility of two UGA players being academically ineligible for the fall. Although I have no hard evidence of certain names, I can say this is not related to the Jarvis Jones issue from a week ago (about possibly receiving improper benefits; hence "academic").

I have heard random names (Caleb King, Derek Owens, and possibly an offensive lineman) but I have only heard rumors. I, being the pessimist that I am, think that this is not going to end well. Hopefully it's only one of two things:

  1. We have some guys awaiting test scores that end up passing
  2. The academic rumors are completely false (yes, I admit by writing this article, I'm only proliferating the rumors)
We are certainly not immune to players flunking out -- remember Paul Oliver? "Oh, it's okay, I'll just enter the supplemental draft". Anyway, I guess I am writing this article to help soften the blow in case something bad is announced. If something is, we will certainly keep you updated (and the ensuing H2H article will undoubtedly be one of the most negative posts we have ever written).

It's kinda funny that we actually mentioned Caleb's eligibility concerns in this week's first podcast episode. (We recorded the audio Monday evening)
