56 Days: Garrison Smith

As I've said before, usually the biggest leap for a college player in terms of improvement, is between his freshman and sophomore seasons. That is why I'm looking for some big things from Mr. Smith this year.  The 6-4 295 pounder should get ample playing time at defensive end, as he will most likely compete with Abry Jones and DeAngelo Tyson (and possibly Ray Drew).

Although he had limited snaps on defense last year, most Dawg fans will agree that he has quite a high ceiling. Don't forget, this guy was a stud coming out of high school:

Defensive line is one position group that worries me very little. We will have a lot...ALLOT of talented guys -- ranging from freshmen to seniors -- that SHOULD provide a nice front wall for our defense. There is one minor issue -- our leading returning sack guy (that sounds strange) on the D-line is DeAngelo Tyson, who had all of 1 last season. I'm looking for that to change this season with young bucks like G. Smith holding the fort down.

Next up: #55 ???
