Early Lines (Point Spreads) on UGA Games From Golden Nugget

The Golden Nugget Casino in Las Vegas has released their annual "Games of the Year" in college football. I won't mince words because I wanted to get the info out ASAP. Anyway, here is what I am hearing:

@ Atlanta, GA
Boise St (-4)

S. Carolina (-3)

Miss. St.
Georgia (-3.5)

Georgia (-3.5)

Florida (-3)

Georgia (-4.5)

If any more pop up (or if I misstated the correct line) I will update on this post.

  1. I know this is an off topic question and about UGA basketball, but is there any info on how Marcus Thornton performed while playing over seas for Reach USA?I heard it announced last month that MT was going to participate but after that I never heard anything more on how things went.Would love to hear that he was draining 3's and was unstoppable down low around the basket all game every game.Any stats or video available? Thanks.

Bye the way, love H2H,you guys do a great job!

  2. Sports Reach played pro teams in China for 2 weeks from May 19 to May 29. They have returned. It was college basketball players including Marcus Thornton of Georgia and also included a Kentucky player Eloy Vargas. A total of 16 on the roster, to get commitments to Jesus and play basketball. Sports Reach also, now, has sent a high school group to Brazil to play basketball. They do softball and many sports, and looks to be a quite strong organization well managed.

Marcus Thornton is expected to really blossom this season, according to Mark Fox. A Post Player, who blocked a ton of shots in limited time last season, appears to have been one of the 4 top players on the Sports Reach China Mission. Of course, Marcus Thornton, Mr. Basketball in this state, will be a Starter for Fox this season. Mark Fox has done a strong job of his rotation, and has recruited well. He has strategized the game well and won a lot of very good games against excellent teams. This experience will do nothing but help Marcus 2011-2012. It also speaks well of him, that he is involved in this Sports Reach Mission. Playing all Pro teams in China, is part of it, getting to go to China is a huge part of it, and doing well while he was there rounds it out.

Couldn't find you the results for every game, not sure why their own site doesn't report the stats line for each game - would seem easy for them to do so.

    Marcus Thornton :

3 for 5 from field, 1 offensive 1 defensive rebound, 1 steal, 1 turnover, 5 fouls, and 6 points. So, he fouled out of that game. Team was 38 of 89 from the field, and won this game 87-82 over a Lithuanian Pro Team.

Another night, the team was 36 of 100 from the field, and Marcus Thornton was 4 of 9 including 1 of 2 from 3-point line and 3 of 4 from the charity stripe. Marcus also contributed an offensive and defensive rebound each, had a steal, a steal, an assist, a blocked shot, had only 3 fouls this game, tallying 12 points. His team lost this game to Brazil, a Pro Team, 105 to 106 because Brazil shot the ball far better from the field.

Marcus Thornton played behind Travis Leslie last season, averaging 1.5 points a game, 1.9 rebounds a game in 9.4 minutes a game. I would suggest that Marcus has a well-rounded game; and that he could be a force underneath. It is going to be a young team Fox sends out this season, and 1 expected to not be as great as last year's exciting squad.

Another game in China, Thornton was 2 of 5 from the field, 0-2 from the free throw line, 3 offensive rebounds and 1 defensive, 1 steal, 1 blocked shot, 1 Turnover, 4 total points, and 3 fouls. Thornton's team was 104-99 over Lithuania to end 5-1 vs Lithuania in China.

  3. And, 2-6 from the field in another game, 1 offensive, 2 defensive rebounds, a steal, a block, a turnover, an assist, 4 points and 4 fouls. Sports Reach won.

5 of 10 in another game, 1 of 1 on 3-point shots, 2 offensive and 2 defensive rebounds, zero fouls, 11 points, with a steal, a turnover, and an assist. Another win.

    4 of 10 from the field, 0 of 1 on 3-pointers, 2 offensive and 4 defensive rebounds, 2 assists, 2 turnovers, 8 points, and only 1 foul. A win.

3 of 5 from field, 0 of 2 from the line, an offensive and a defensive rebound, a turnover, a steal, 6 points and in the win, fouled out again.

    ODDS : College Football

I cannot actually find any odds on the sites I usually look at. Do you have a URL Link to that ? Is it ok if I say that I find it hard to imagine that this football program right now is predicted to win every single game by 1 site I read a Brandon Pledger on Bleacher Report, saying he sees only 2 losses and both of those we can win. I know our schedule is weak, real weak; but those are some of the good games this up-coming season. On a side note, I am 1 of the true believers of the fact that this football program, right now, needs a whole lot less Love and a whole lot more GATA attitude. If we tell this team that they should run the table this up-coming 2011 season, I think we are telling them the exactly wrong message. Way too many times these past 5 years, we have underperformed against lesser opponents we should have beaten and did not. A total of 10 of those such losses, against teams not even finishing in the AP Poll Top 25 in Mark Richt's 10 years at the helm, and another 3-10 record against the teams finishing in the Top 10 of the AP Poll in all 10 years, along with a losing record 11 games under .500 against teams who finished in the Top 25 AP Poll.

We don't beat the teams we should, and we absolutely also lose to the good teams.

Boise State to beat UGA by 4 according to Vegas
South Carolina to beat UGA by 3 according to Vegas

Our season is OVER right there. 0-2.

Florida to beat us by 3 too.

    Wonderful. Just wonderful.

Inspires a lot of confidence in the off-season, for this under-achieving bunch on our "coaching staff" Mark Richt hired to get us to this current mess.

  4. Here is a link with ALL the games...

I know it's a "message board" but I've seen various other websites confirming these numbers. Also, our Boise game actually opened at UGA +6 and has already been bet down to +1.5. That's huge movement.
