85 Days: Derrick Lott

Yes, he's number 85, and no...he's not a tight end. Derrick Lott is however, a defensive end, and should be a key force to add tremendous depth to our line this season. Although he only had 7 tackles last season, he was a freshman who was learning his trade. After all, it ain't easy being a rookie, learning a new defensive system, AND competing inside the trenches.

They say the biggest leap of improvement for a given player is between his freshman and sophomore years. Hopefully, the 6-4 310-pounder will make some noise. Currently, he should be sitting number-2 on the depth chart behind senior DeAngelo Tyson, but as a defensive linemen, this should still mean ample opportunities for Lott. I for one am looking for big things from the guy.

Speaking of 6-4 guys, there was a famous one who just celebrated a birthday about a week ago. Big hint: former college teammate of Mark Richt. Another hint...
