Kevin Ware to Visit UGA (And Other Hoops Stuff)

According to the AJC, Kevin Ware will visit UGA this weekend, followed by a visit later this month to Louisville (after his graduation). Typically, I feel more comfortable when my team is the last one a recruit visits. However, the way this guy's recruitment has been going, it might be to our advantage...who knows. I do think it's safe to say that Louisville and UGA are sitting at the top of his list.

Also mentioned in the above AJC article, is the fact that UGA has offered another 2012 player: 6-4 shooting guard, Charles Mann, who is from Union Grove (McDonough, GA). He will be playing at Milton HS next year though (uh oh). Here is a good recruiting summary from ESPN:

Strengths:
His big strength is his size for the position. In a class that has very little depth at the point guard position he will certainly stand out among his peers. One of the bigger lead guards in 2012, Charles is very coachable and very vocal. He makes the right play and has exceptional court vision. He doesn't take chances with the ball. Really good at penetrating and finding guys. He's shown to be a creative finisher around the basket. He can go at different gears and is at least attentive on defense.

Weaknesses:
Some still view him as a combo guard and he's trying to shed that label. He's not a threat behind the 3-point line and must address his jumpshot to prevent defenses from zoning him out. He'd do well to add runner or a floater in the lane. He has a good looking free throw stroke, though, so you have to believe he can shoot it well with practice.

(Summary):
It's tough to envision him not ending up at a BCS level school. He has the grades, the makeup and the ability to run a team. He will be in demand.

He already has offers from UConn and Florida State, and I would expect Tech to offer him as well (according to the AJC article, he grew up a Tech fan...this probably won't turn out well for us based on our recruiting history).

Here is Mann in action:
