Special Boise Uniform Chatter (Pics Included)

I'm not one who prefers drastic remixes of our uniform by Nike or any other , as the iconic Brandon Spikes so eloquently put it, "fake juice" associated with jacking up the team. I wasn't big on the first go round (though I was pretty excited at the ensuing game and end result), and sure as hell knew those awful aberrations in Jacksonville were going to lead to an ass thrashing.

I can only hope these never again see the light of day.

Well there has been some recent chatter about suiting up in Nike Pro-Combat duds for the game in Atlanta against Boise. The best I can tell, John Jenkins leaked the info on his Facebook page, but didn't have the actual rumored pictures. The rumor is, that our agreement to play in the game had a stipulation that included Nike getting free run of the wardrobe if they'd do their best job at creating something like the early Halloween party pictured below.

While I don't know if we'll have new uniforms, I'm sure that Boise won't enter the arena in anything remotely similar to a stitch of clothing they have worn in the past. Personally, I really don't want to see anything but classic Red and Black beat the hell outta Boise on September 3rd. Enough on the commentary though, lets get to the goods.

I think the first picture may be the actual rumored photos, with the black version hopefully just being some "G'd" up clown suit with cleats. (Clickable for larger versions)

  4. That 2nd uniform is a damn joke...at least it better be.

  5. Teams like Oregon and Boise change things all the time because they have no tradition, no history. They wouldn't mind changing their uniforms or the color of the field every game just to bring some attention to themselves.

Why an SEC school would want to do this is beyond me. Sure, Nike loves it because it draws attention to them instead of the game itself and the teams playing in it. Maybe that helps when Boyzee is playing Central Southeastern New Mexico, but we don't need it. Period.

  6. I like It. Nothing wrong with a little change now and then.

  7. Why don't we let Nike paint over the Sistine Chapel? After all, it IS old and we have all these new tchnologies. They better NOT do something bizarre for the Boise game. Let Boise wear something weird. Our uniform is one of the best (except lately our numbers on the jerseys have gotten too small and thin). No changes wanted or needed.

  8. Anon 1:13, great comment. Completely agree.

I agree with the general consensus here- we don't need no stinking uniform changes. The pictured red ones above look pretty much the same as our current ones, so I won't be appalled if we did wear them on 9/3.

I won't like it, but it won't be that much of a departure from the norm. I could care less about this hubub really, I just wanna beat that small-market media darling.

  9. Sorry gang, but I love what Nike has done with Oregon's uniform changes. It is doing more than providing attention to Nike, it also brought the Ducks out of PAC 10 obscurity. I don't like these drawings for UGA's jersey's, but there's a lot one can do with Red, Black, White & Silver. The black out jerseys we used the first time against AU were killer looking.

I think we should bring out something new and cool for the Boise game. A lot of eyeballs are going to be on that game. It's time to have fun again.

  10. Lets leave the fashion forward behavior to the Pac-10. They were born that way. They can't help it.

  11. NIX.....on all of the above!!! We've got black jerseys; use them if a change is needed. That alien space suit is not UGA. Don't mess around with our red helmet; it is our identity!

  12. Please get rid of the God awful "silver britches". Wear black pants and red jerseys. I understand tradition but you have to evolve as a program too. Nothing too crazy, just black or white pants. Grey and Silver look terrible on a uniform. IMHO.

  13. Maybe we can get red astroturf for Sanford Stadium.
