UGA/Tech Hoops Recap

YEAH BABY!!!!!!!! 73-72!!!!!

And another road win for the Dawgs. But there are still some issues we have to sort out with our team:
  1. We still struggle running a fluid offense against zone (although it did get better in the second half, mainly because of Ware's threes.)
  2. Trey is frustrating at times. He is so skilled offensively but on defense it does not look like he hustles as much as the other players....maybe it's just me. (not to mention he made some horrible passes in the first half)
  3. Nolte is better than Thornton and Donte Williams -- not to bash Nolte because he made some good plays but our freshmen look lost and have got to learn to play more minutes.
  4. Vince Williams has apparently been euthanized.
Now the good:
  1. Robinson is playing with the same intensity/tempo WITHOUT the turnovers. We didn't have his speed last year and he has been great.
  2. Ware -- Thank God someone learned how to shoot. Also had 6 assists with ZERO turnovers.
  3. Brantley seems to be much more confident shooting from the outside. He made some pretty big threes.
  4. We got another road win against an ACC team (and our arch-rival no less). Like I said yesterday...these are the games we NEED to win and we did.
Our non-conference schedule gets pretty weak from here on out. (sans a February matchup against Xavier). We have 10 days off for finals, then here are our next five games:

Dec. 18 -- Arkansas State (coached by former LSU head man John Brady)
Dec. 21 -- High Point
Dec. 23 -- at Mercer (hopefully some Macon Dawg fans will come out for this one)
Dec. 28 -- Charleston Southern
Dec. 31 -- Eastern Kentucky

Then, we get another week off before our conference opener against Kentucky at home. If we can be 11-2 going into that game...it could be a real springboard for our team (and tourney chances).
