Hoops Preview: Charleston Southern at Georgia

Tonight will mark the Dawgs second tilt with a team from the Big South Conference. Charleston Southern will  make the journey over to Athens tonight for a 7:00 p.m. start time. High Point was the other BSC team and if you saw the score of that one, you pretty much knew how that went for the Panthers.

The player to watch for the Buccaneers is senior PG #5 Jamarco Warren, who's averaging 14.4/3.2/3.2 per game. He's a very solid guard who shoots about 42% from the field and 40% from the three point line. With the recent history of 3-pt. FG defense, if this guy gets hot we could be in for trouble. Another of the Bucs players to watch is 6'5 forward #1 Kelvin Martin, who shoots about 70% from the floor and is averaging about 11 points a game.

These guys score a lot of points and are 21st in the country in points per game. They also shoot a very high percentage, at 48% per game. Despite their 6-6 record, this will not be a game like the one against High Point as the Bucs are a very solid, well-rounded team.

The one chink in their armor is the lack of size down low. Expect the Dawgs to pound it into the post because they only have 1 player over 6'7. Just like most of the season to this point, I expect a lot of zone defense to limit the Dawgs presence down low. Hopefully it won't matter what they do and we are able to stretch the zone out with some long-range shooting.

Here's a look at the Bucs statistically:
