Notre Dame Hoops Preview

As we all prepare to stuff our face with about 17,243 calories today, the hoops team faces their toughest foe so far this season in 4-0 Notre Dame (7:00 ESPN2). While their schedule has been relatively weak -- Georgia Southern, Liberty, Chicago State, and Maine -- they WERE a six seed in the tourney last year and return most of their team. Luckily however, they did lose star forward Luke Harangody and point guard Tory Jackson. They are coached by Mike Brey, who has been at ND for ten years and has compiled a record of 215-113.

As for the team, the scariest thing is their height. Four starters go 6'8 or taller, and the other starter, Ben Hansbrough, goes 6'3. I would have to say this will be the tallest lineup UGA will face all year, and could cause some serious matchup problems since our lineup goes something like -- 5-11, 6-0, 6-4, 6-7, and 6-9....but....the bigger they are the harder they fall I guess (translation: we REALLY need Trey to play). Anyway, here are the stats for ND so far this year:

The winner of this game plays the winner of the Temple/Cal game, which is also played tonight, at 9:00 on ESPN2 (right after our game). That game will be played Friday at 5:00 on ESPN2. The loser of our game plays the loser of the Temple/Cal game Friday at 7:30 on ESPNU.

Should be a great tourney to watch regardless of UGA's for Thanksgiving, be nice to your extended family members that you don't really only have to put up with them once or twice a year.
