Gary Barnett VIP Club Update: Todd Dodge... Not Dodging the Axe

*What is the 'Gary Barnett VIP Club' you ask? Only the most exclusive club in the land. It could also be called the "Coaches Who Should Have Been Fired by Now but for Some Reason Have Not Club".

It looks like I have taken an early lead in the "Club". If any of you are surprised, and I'm certainly not, Todd Dodge of North Texas was just fired. Strike another one down for trendy high school coaches who can't hack it in college football. His sparkling record of 1-6 this year and 6-37 overall sure didn't help his cause. Dodge never won more than two games in his first three seasons.

The interim coach will be offensive coordinator Mike Canales, who has been a journeyman at the college level and had a brief stint in the NFL. I have a sneaky suspicion that the whole staff will get canned at the end of the year. It's hard to be that bad and keep the people who got you there.

Apparently, Director of Athletics Rick Villareal gave Dodge an ultimatum that he win seven games this season or he would go the way of the Dodo. I assume after it was mathematically impossible for him to win seven games, the hammer fell. He had to be feeling the heat after getting crushed at home by his teammate, FIU's Mario Cristobol this weekend.

I did some great GM'ing and got a real steal with my last draft spot at No. 9. Got a guy that was really under the radar, and then, well he made like a B-52 flying 20 over Baghdad.
