102210 bet the farm friday duel
Things are getting crazy now....another 1-2 week leaves Van Dawgin and me with no choice -- a BTFF showdown. That's other way to do it...fight to the death. Each of us will pick three games and let destiny run her course. The winner will live another day. The loser...well, we won't discuss.

First, here are my (Dawgola's) picks (home team in CAPS):

IOWA (-6) VS. Wisconsin -- This one is pretty easy -- classic let down game for Wisconsin. The beat Ohio State at home, then go on the road the next week against a veteran Iowa team who can still easily win the Big Ten (0nly loss came at Arizona). Iowa's defense has put up some sexy numbers as well; they rank 6th in the country in scoring defense (13.2), 7th in rush defense, and 13th in total defense. The solid rush defense should force Wisconsin to throw the ball, which is not their forte. Meanwhile, Iowa, who is led by Quarterback Ricky "I've been playing at Iowa for 11 years" Stanzi who simply does not make mistakes -- he's third in the country in QB rating. I fully expect Iowa to control this game from the start and win the game by double-digits. Dawgola's play -- Iowa (-6)

Air Force (+18.5) vs. TCU -- Playing with fire a bit betting against TCU but Air Force is not too shabby either. In their two losses (at Oklahoma by 3 and at San Diego State by 2) they still out-gained both opponents, so they could easily be undefeated as well. TCU has been beating up on poor opponents lately, and I think with a looming matchup at Utah in a couple of weeks, they may overlook AFA. Of course TCU's defense is great, but they have not faced an offense as potent as Air Force (yes, that includes Oregon State) and I think this could be a close game. Ultimately, I expect the Horned Frogs to pull this one out, but I'll take 18.5. Dawgola's Play -- Air Force (+18.5)

Nebraska (-5.5) vs. OKLAHOMA STATE -- Let's not overreact to one bad week by Nebraska. I mean, Taylor "Tribal Tat" Martinez is due for a bounce back game against a much weaker defense than Texas. Oklahoma State has been putting up pretty offensive numbers but have given up a ton of points this season. Nebraska can't afford to drop another game and don't forget, despite the loss last week to Texas, they only allowed 270 yards of offense to the Longhorns. I expect the Cowboys to struggle on offense against the Huskers' stellar D, and I think a more desperate Nebraska team will come out and try to embarrass Okey State. Dawgola's Play -- Nebraska (-5.5)

Let's get down to the good st+uff. Here is my (Van Dawgin's) chance to drop a little knowledge on you. Just like Dawgola, home teams are in CAPS.

Indiana vs. ILLINOIS (-14) -- This one is pretty much a no brainer for me. The Illini don't score very much and Indiana is in the top half of the Big Ten in scoring. Not to mention the fact that the Zookers are 1-8 against the spread as a favorite in their last 9 games. Playing down to the competition doesn't mean winning by 14 points.
Van Dawgin's Pick -- Indiana (+14)

Lsu vs.  AUBURN (-6) -- Here's your token trap game for the WarTigerPlainsmen. Cam Newton jock sniffers are ramping up the Heisman speak, thus inflating Newton's ego. Auburn can't play defense at all and LSU has the best D in the conference. Coughing up the Heisman lead has been a trend this season and I think it continues. The Hat will mystify everyone and somehow win this game, even though he goes for it on fourth down 612 times.
Van Dawgin's Pick -- Lsu (+6) (I honestly think The Hat will derail the Chizik Choo Choo and LSU wins straight up) (Also go for UNDER 51.5 on this game)

Rutgers (+13) vs. PITTSBURGH -- Remember that guy Tino Sunseri? Well he's still not that good and Rutgers defense is decent for a Big East team (3rd in Big East). Rutgers is coming off of an emotional game, where DT Eric LeGrand was severely injured, and Pittsburgh just isn't very good. The Scarlet Knights are 8-1 against the spread in their last nine games, when an underdog of 10.5 or more. If Mohamed Sanu doesn't play in this game I'm effed, but I'm gonna take the points anyway.
Van Dawgin's Pick -- Rutgers (+13)
