Hoops Recruiting Update

Mark Fox and Stacy Palmore have a huge day on tap today. They will be visiting 2011 Rivals 150 PF Julian Royal. Royal plays at Milton with tOSU commit and Rivals 150 PG Shannon Scott, Rivals 150 SG Dai-Jon Parker, and 2012 Rivals 150 SF Evan Nolte. If that isn't looooooaaaaadeeed, I don't know what is.

Royal is currently favoring the Dawgs per UGASports basketball staffer Dan McDonald (@DMcDonaldHoops). He holds offers from schools including Alabama, Tech, Wake, tOSU, FSU, and Clemson to name a few. From all indications he is currently most interested in UGA, GTU, and Wake. Royal had an in-home visit with GTU today and plans for one with Wake next Thursday (McDonald @ UGASports). What does all of this mean for the Dawgs?

A few things.

If Fox and Co. can get Royal to commit, it makes things a lot easier with the rest of the Milton three. I say three because Scott has already affirmed his decision to become a Buckeye. Dai-Jon virtually eliminated the Dawgs early on, but has since gotten back on the bandwagon. I think we are in the top two with him at this point. The HoopDawgs already have Evan Nolte's brother Connor in Athens and he also doubles as a very talented blogger and ESPN intern.

It also establishes a pipeline with a very good basketball school and AAU program. These three play on the Southern Kings, which is an extremely good program featuring 2012 uber-center Tony Parker. Parker is a desperately wanted man in Athens, and this would put the Dawgs in his good graces.

Signing these three with Nick Marshall and Kentavious would be easily a top-5 class in my opinion. Not to mention the fact that they have ties to other very talented players around the state. If Fox signs a class of this magnitude, and we make a nice Tourney run this year our basketball program will go into hyperdrive.
