UGA Releases Non-Conference Hoops Schedule

Per GeorgiaDogs, the Bulldogs have announced their official 2010-2011 non-conference hoops schedule.

2010-11 Non-Conference Schedule
Nov. 5 vs. Augusta State (Exhibition)
Nov. 12 vs. Mississippi Valley State
Nov. 16 vs. Colorado
Nov. 20 at St. Louis
Nov. 25-28 at Old Spice Classic (@Orlando, Fla.)
(1st round opponent: Notre Dame, Nov. 25 @7:00 p.m. , ESPN2. Other participating schools: Boston College, Cal, Manhattan, Temple, Texas A&M, Wisconsin)
Dec. 3 vs. UAB
Dec. 7 at Georgia Tech
Dec. 18 vs. Arkansas State
Dec. 21 vs. High Point
Dec. 23 at Mercer
Dec. 28 vs. Charleston Southern
Dec. 31 vs. Eastern Kentucky
Feb. 8 vs. Xavier

As usual, Westerdawg pretty much nailed it with his prediction about two weeks ago. The only exceptions were Augusta State on Nov. 5th and the date addition of Xavier on Feb. 8th.

With half of these games being against schools that had an RPI of 100 or better last year and a very tough SEC this year, I'd say it's going to be a study in being the best by beating the best (or being the worst by losing to the best). Just ask Hawaii how good it feels to pound everyone on your JV schedule and then run into a buzz saw.

If you don't believe recruiting is important to success in any college sport, ask John Calipari***. With a schedule like this, we'll get about 12-15 televised games, with maybe half of those being on the ESPN/ABC family of networks. Exposure is the name of the game for us right now, especially because we have The Human Highlight Reel 2.0 in Travis Leslie. That should give us a recruiting edge and we need it. I also think we'll be better in the end because of it.

***Note: A vital part of John Calipari's success also deals with cash, Hummers, escorts, and guest test-takers. This was not factored into the equation.
