HUGE hoops commit

Yesterday 5-star hoops player Kentavious Caldwell gave his commitment to Mark Fox. This is a huge pickup for the HoopDawgs for a number of reasons:

1. He can shoot the lights out. As evidenced here. I've heard numerous reports that he may be the best pure shooter in this class and really can fill it up from long range. This is exactly the type of scoring threat that we need to stretch a defense, and something that we haven't had in a long, long time.

2. If you'll notice in the video, he is a shooting guard... and over 6'1. Per my counterpart Tesla, that would be the tallest true SG we've had since Ezra Williams. For some reason I didn't remember Ezra being that tall. It seems like everyone else has these players, but for some unknown reason Felton never thought he needed a long, confident shooter on the team. Novel concept.

3. Interest. What is going to determine the fate long-term of the basketball team is how we support them. Fox's hire, Thompkins, and Travis' thunderdunks made the Steg a place of excitement last year. It hasn't been like that in a while. CMF knows the window that he has to create something here won't be open for long and he's trying to catch some lightning in a bottle. Caldwell can score, and we need a dynamic player like him desperately.

I think Fox is doing an absolutely terrific job already. He knows what this team needs and is addressing those needs exceptionally well. Caldwell is the highest rated player that has committed since Louis Williams, and we all know he had no intentions of coming here in the first place. We're on the right track. Axl Rose put it best, all we need is just a little P-A-T-I-E-N-C-E.
